The Split Skirt and Ride Astride Habits in the 1910s

For my dissertation I investigated the significance and development of riding costume in the late nineteenth century to early twentieth century, with a focus on the 1910s ride astride habit. This included the split skirt, a garment that fastens from trousers into a skirt and vice versa. I made a riding corset and split skirt to investigate the physical effects of this costume, and I rode Dom to test the costume. Scroll to see the photos and videos!
